UV Treatment
Hyde Marine has teamed with the most experienced supplier of medium pressure ultra-violet (UV) technology in the world, to offer robust, powerful and effective UV disinfection systems for several shipboard applications. Hyde UV systems are available as completely engineered and fully automated turnkey systems adapted to the specific application.
- Disinfection of bunkered drinking water as it is taken aboard the vessel. Systems are sized for a minimum of 30 mJ/cm2 UV Dosage level suitable for drinking water treatment including the elimination of Cryptosporidium. UV is also suitable for other potable water disinfection applications.
- Disinfection of permeate from graywater/blackwater treatment systems prior to discharge. Systems are designed for much higher dosage than normally required, to ensure effective disinfection even during periods of low UV transmission. The systems are engineered to recirculate the treated wastewater through the UV during periods of low permeate generation to allow continuous UV disinfection until ready for overboard discharge.
- Treatment of pool and spa water. UV treatment to reduce chlorine usage and to remove disinfection by-products, such as chloramines, from water eliminates the unpleasant chlorine smell and reduces irritation to eyes. UV disinfection also eliminates Cryptosporidium and other undesirable pathogenic and chlorine resistant micro-organisms.
- UV can also be used to disinfect air circulated through vent ducts to eliminate fungi and pathogens such as Legionella.
Hyde Marine has delivered several shipboard systems for treatment of permeate from Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) systems to ensure low limits of bacteria are maintained prior to overboard discharge. Drinking water disinfection systems for shipboard applications have also been delivered.
